In a match between England and Zimbabwe, when chasing the target of 205, England managed to reach to 204 for 6 wickets at the end of the game and match resulted in a draw. This was the only Closest draw match at that time where both teams scores were level at the end of the match.

Second such instance occurred in Nov’2011. In a match between India and West Indies, India was chasing the target of 243 and Indian were in a comfortable situation at 224 for 6 wickets. India needed 19 runs in 5 remaining overs with 4 wickets in hand. But suddenly the match momentum shifted after Virat Kohli got out on 63 runs. India hardly able to escape the Windies victory by staying 242 for 9 at the end of the play.
